The Food Food Awards 2019 South and West was hosted at The Leela Palace Bengaluru by BBC Good Food India, partnered with On1y spices. The evening celebrated gourmet dining and was attended by some of the culinary giant, spearheaded by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor himself. While some of the most eminent chefs, eateries and hotels were awarded, there was food galore. It was the perfect occasion for culinary masterminds to come together — discuss, debate and share their expertise on emerging trends and the food scene in the south and west.
On1y spices as a brand has always believed in pushing beyond the boundary to ensure extraordinary results. Partnering with Food Food awards was a step towards the same as it explores and appreciates the culinary world in a larger dimension. “Partnering with BBC Good Food India, as we always believe, is a great platform to showcase gourmet products such as ours. We, at On1y Gourmet Herbs & Spice Seasoning, have maintained that our range of quality products uses premium ingredients sourced from the best of farms across the world,” said Viren Desai, Assistant Vice President, Jayanti herbs & Spices. The guests also had much to say about the role of seasoning in food. “We all need seasoning. It’s the spice of our lives. Whether its pastry or dessert, seasonings are very important,” said Avijit Ghosh, Corporate Pastry Chef, Leela Hotel.
On1y had an interesting question to ask and a sustainable initiative on this occasion: What is the future of food? For every answer, they would plant a sapling. From vegan food and lab-grown meat to microgreens and robots, diverse opinions were penned down. “I think one should not worry about the future of food, because food is always going to be there,” said Akshraj Jodha, Executive Chef, ITC Hotels. Many believe that adopting a no-waste policy is the way forward. “As a culinary academic, I can say that right now the biggest challenge in our world is sustainability. From a chef’s point of view it is important that we plan everything well so that there is no waste,” said Dr. Suborno Bose, Chairman, IIHM Bangalore. But there are other sustainable methods as well. “Generally, there’s a lot of things happening in India, people are starting to understand there are great opportunities in sustainability whether it be livestock, seafood or just aquaponics,” said Shaun Kenworthy Chef, restaurateur, food and restaurant consultant and columnist.
With a holistic culinary experience, Food Food Awards proved to be every bit worth the hype. “Our motto stands “Twist the Ordinary”, and it is through our offering that we wish to add the twist of gourmet to the daily kitchen of every household who looks up to these celebrity chefs and stalwarts from the culinary fraternity. The Food Food Awards recognize the experts in the culinary world, and On1y is proud to add the much-required zest of flavor as the Spice Partner of the event!” closed Viren Desai, Assistant Vice President, Jayanti herbs & Spices.
